THE full ramifications of this week’s Federal Court judgment against Melbourne columnist Andrew Bolt for breaching racial discrimination laws are still unknown.
But there is no doubt the decision has further muddied the waters for proponents of freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

There is perhaps a tendency to take for granted concepts such as freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
But to remain a free country we need to be able to discuss any subject without fear. If you don’t like the views of Andrew Bolt the answer is not to shut him down. The answer does not lie with less debate. The answer lies with more debate, more talking, more exchanging of ideas.
Anything else diminishes us as a society.

While I agree with your defence of Andrew Bolt, I say bollocks to your hypocrisy! As Editor of the Adelaide Advertiser, you are guilty of shutting down discussion, exchange of ideas and debate on any subject that does not match your totalitarian, Marxist ideology. That you choose to defend Andrew Bolt is not testimony to your belief in freedom of speech, but is instead testimony to your belief in a dictatorial press, libelling the non-politically correct as a matter of due course. You rightly fear for your own livelihood, but you are a bloody hypocrite and you know it.
